The Fitness Belfast & Shane Todd introduction to yoga at your desk
SITTING FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME MAY BE CAUSING YOU PAIN…
According to research from GSK & their Global Pain Index, 65% of us suffer physical pain simply because of a lack of movement - like all that sitting at our desks…
Our work habits and desk bound “sitting culture” is seen to be a contributing factor to this lack of movement, BUT the study has recommended that just 2 minutes of yoga or stretching at your desk each hour could go a long way to combating the stress created from all this sitting.
You might have caught me on BBC Radio Ulster’s Nolan Show showing Vinny & Nicola how to get some daily activity in, but if you missed that, here’s the extremely high production Fitness Belfast & Shane Todd Introduction To Yoga At Your Desk!
It’s a simple, light hearted, desk flow to get you started on your desk yoga journey - give it a try, share with your work buddies around you and you can all start to get the physical & mental benefits that come with taking a regular time out just to move around, and check in on yourself.
With each pose, take 5 big deep grounding breaths, making sure you follow your inhales & exhales all the way to the very end.
Then, grab a cuppa, and get back to work!
Enjoy!
Had the best time at Decathlon Belfast last Saturday for their annual Play Days event. Hosting a Kickass Bootcamp workout for adults showcasing all the awesome strength training equipment on offer was my intention. In reality, so many mini Bootcamp Superstars turned up we shifted to playing head shoulders knees toes & cones & singing Lava Chicken from the Minecraft Movie instead!
