Get Moving with us at Northern Ireland's Biggest Workplace Wellbeing Event
Next week, we’re heading to the Galgorm Resort to speak at Business in the Community’s Healthy Working Lives Conference – Northern Ireland's biggest workplace wellbeing event :)
On Wednesday 3 June, more than 170 HR professionals, occupational health specialists and operational managers from across the country will come together to explore how businesses can build healthier, happier and more resilient workplaces. It's a great line-up including keynote from Dr Ranj Singh - familiar TV Dr face behind Morning Live and the BAFTA-winning CBeebies series Get Well Soon - and the day is hosted by BBC Health Correspondent Marie-Louise Connolly. Alongside the keynote, there are breakout sessions covering movement, compassionate leadership, menstrual health and building inclusive workplaces.
Our session: getting people moving at work
Fitness Belfast is leading the session on Movement: Simple Strategies for Integrating Movement into the Workday, alongside Claire McBride and Sara Cartin from Fujitsu.
So many of us spend our days at a desk, and sitting still for hours on end takes a real toll - on our energy, our focus and our bodies. The good news is that fixing it doesn't mean overhauling your whole routine. In our session we'll be sharing practical, low-impact ways to weave more movement into the working day without disrupting how people actually work. Simple, doable tools that managers can take straight back to their teams to combat sedentary behaviour, lift energy levels and reduce the physical strain that comes with office-based roles.
It's a message close to our hearts at Fitness Belfast: small changes, big difference. The right bits of movement built into the working day can boost productivity, lift mood, ease the aches and pains of desk-based work and take the edge off stress and anxiety - without anyone needing to become a gym person to feel the benefit.
A bit about what we do
This is exactly the kind of work I love - taking the overwhelm out of getting active and showing people that small changes, done consistently, add up to something powerful. It's the same approach we bring to everything at the Fitness Belfast Studio and out at our Kickass Bootcamp in Ormeau Park.
Through our Tailored Wellness at Work programmes, we've been lucky to support some of Northern Ireland's biggest and most forward-thinking employers - including FinTrU, where we've delivered workplace wellness since 2018, along with the Education Authority NI, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Translink and AXA NI, among others. Whether it's online, in person or a hybrid of both, we tailor everything to the team in front of us, from desk yoga and Kickass Bootcamp to Q&As and one-off events.
Come and say hello
The event is officially sold out, so if you've got a ticket, I'd love to see you in the breakout room. Come and share your own challenges around movement at work - these sessions are at their best when everyone gets stuck into the conversation.
And if you're an employer thinking about how to get your own team moving, get in touch - we'd love to have a chat. You can find out more about the conference at www.bitcni.org.uk/HWL.
A big thank you to Business in the Community Northern Ireland, Britvic Ireland and Henderson Group for having us. See you at the Galgorm!
