Two years – and counting – of Yoga with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive
We're delighted that our online Yoga Fundamentals partnership with the Northern Ireland Housing Executive has been going strong now for just around 3 years, and keeps going :)
Fitness Belfast delivers a weekly LIVE online yoga programme to NIHE staff – free of charge to employees – every Friday lunchtime with every session is recorded too, so anyone who can't make it live can catch up in their own time, or revisit a class whenever they like.
Yoga Fundamentals is a progressive, beginner-friendly 45–60 minute practice that blends yoga, meditation and mobility work in a relaxed, welcoming environment. It's designed to help reduce workplace stress, build a sense of community across teams, improve posture, strength and mobility, and encourage people to "take 5" for a healthier work-rest balance.
A few things we're proud of from the journey so far:
A loyal core group shows up week after week, with recordings consistently viewed dozens of times per session – often far more than the live attendance, showing how people fit wellbeing around busy working days.
Teams have started joining in together from shared spaces, turning a yoga class into something genuinely communal.
Some of the most rewarding feedback has come from people who described themselves as previously very inactive, or managing injuries or other challenges, taking that crucial first step.
The feedback says it best:
"I always look forward to my Friday yoga session to help me wind down after a week at my computer desk."
"It's nice to feel the organisation takes an interest in the physical and mental health of all staff."
"Never even thought online yoga could be so much fun!"
A heartfelt thank you to NIHE for continuing to invest in their team's wellbeing – here's to another year of Friday wind-downs. You can find out more about Workplace Wellness at fitnessbelfast.com
Our 4-week Kickass Bootcamp programme is go with the great team at Belfast Harbour – and what a setting it is with sessions taking place outdoors, right behind the historic Belfast Harbour Commissioners office, alongside the historic winch and anchor – it's not your average gym backdrop!
Next week, we’re heading to the Galgorm Resort to speak at Business in the Community’s Healthy Working Lives Conference – Northern Ireland's biggest workplace wellbeing event :)
Big news from the studio – we are officially qualified in Pilates! It's something we've wanted to add to the Fitness Belfast line-up for a while, and now it's finally on the cards!
We were absolutely buzzing to be back at the Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke Red Dress Fun Run at Stormont Estate, leading the official warm-up for the second year running!
The Red Dress Fun Run is one of their biggest fundraising events of the year, and being part of it has quickly become a calendar highlight for us. This year's event saw around 600 participants turn Stormont Estate into a wave of red on Sunday 22nd March!

Had the best time at Decathlon Belfast last Saturday for their annual Play Days event. Hosting a Kickass Bootcamp workout for adults showcasing all the awesome strength training equipment on offer was my intention. In reality, so many mini Bootcamp Superstars turned up we shifted to playing head shoulders knees toes & cones & singing Lava Chicken from the Minecraft Movie instead!
At Fitness Belfast, we’re proud to support some of Northern Ireland’s most forward-thinking organisations in looking after their teams. One partnership that’s especially close to our hearts is with FinTrU, where we’ve been delivering workplace wellness since 2018.
At Fitness Belfast, we’re passionate about helping workplaces put movement and wellbeing at the heart of their culture. That’s why it’s always a privilege to be part of the Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke (NICHS) Work Well Live Well Awards – an annual celebration of organisations across Northern Ireland committed to creating healthier, happier workplaces.

“Working from home or the office - which one is better for you? Both set-ups present positives and negatives. What remains crucially important, however, is movement during the week.” - thrilled to have contributed to this Health & Wellbeing article in the Belfast Telegraph
