Celebrating Workplace Wellbeing with NICHS Work Well Live Well

At Fitness Belfast, we’re passionate about helping workplaces put movement and wellbeing at the heart of their culture. That’s why it’s always a privilege to be part of the Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke (NICHS) Work Well Live Well Awards – an annual celebration of organisations across Northern Ireland committed to creating healthier, happier workplaces.

In December 2024, the Work Well Live Well team hosted their Health Champion Celebration Event at Titanic Belfast. The morning was filled with inspiration, music, and community spirit. Guests were welcomed with Christmas tunes from the Rhubarb Yukes, before hearing a series of presentations highlighting the impact of workplace health programmes and the role that wellbeing plays in organisational success.

Our Role at the Event

I was delighted to join the line-up again this year, delivering a short, fun chair yoga session for attendees and sharing insights on the importance of movement at work.

Even the smallest bursts of activity during the working day — stretching at your desk, standing for a meeting, or taking a mindful breathing break — can make a huge difference to:

  • 💡 Focus & productivity

  • 🧍 Posture & mobility

  • 😀 Mood & stress levels

  • 😴 Sleep & recovery

By embedding regular movement into the workday, employers can help staff feel healthier, more energised, and more connected — both to their own wellbeing and to each other.

A Celebration of Workplace Health

The event also featured inspiring contributions from:

  • Declan Cunnane (NICHS) on the impact of the Work Well Live Well programme,

  • Gary Gates (SPARK) on championing neurodiversity in the workplace,

  • Kevin McSorley (Public Health Agency) with closing remarks.

All participating workplaces received their awards, recognising their dedication to building healthier work environments, while also sharing experiences and new ideas to carry momentum into 2025.

Special thanks go to the NICHS Work Well Live Well team for organising such a brilliant and energising event!
