Are you sitting comfortably? Desk yoga workshop with Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee

It might sound a bit silly, but with so many of our jobs desk based - even me on admin days! - it’s super important to ensure that we really know how to sit properly and comfortably!

Never hurts to go over the basics, and so I was super enthusiastic to host a ‘Desk Yoga Workshop’ for the Northern Ireland Local Government Officers’ Superannuation Committee (NILGOSC), as part of their recent Staff Training & Wellbeing Day.

Whether you’re #WorkingFromHome, or in the office (as most of the NILGOSC are), the same principles apply to desk based work, and this 15 minute beginner friendly workshop was designed to keep things simple, and give participants a trusty toolbox of techniques to build into, and boost, their working day.

We raised their awareness of better posture to strengthen the low back, and encouraged them to enjoy 2 minutes of movement each hour to boost their physical and mental health, AND most importantly, we had some fun!

The session was recorded, and added to the dedicated NILGOSC + Fitness Belfast: Dedicated Online Content Hub – somewhere for participants to access and refer back to again and again, housing:
