Connecting Communities with Chair Yoga, Belfast Trust, Forward South, and Donegall Pass Community Forum
Chair Yoga Super Stars!
Using chair based yoga & exercise to help reconnect a community disrupted and isolated by COVID this past few weeks with Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Forward South Partnership & Donegall Pass Community Forum.
Zoom is one thing, but to be there in person to help people move, smile, stretch & laugh for the first time in a long time was a real privilege.
Totally accessible for all ages and abilities, this series was aimed at older people coming back together in the community after being pretty isolated due to COVID.
Specifically designed for those who haven't (or can't) move very much, it's been an awesome reminder to keep it simple, and how helping people introduce even tiny changes into their daily lives can make a huge difference. And the feedback has been amazing too :)
If you are continuing to WFH or are continuing to isolate for medical reasons or otherwise, you may be happy to hear that regular & simple chair based movement can have the following benefits:
Helps promote better quality sleep
Can help improve flexibility
Can promote better posture & spinal health
Can increase feelings of emotional wellbeing
Can improve pain management skills
It goes without saying that doing this in company of other like minded individuals can only heighten all of the above, and that’s why I’m super excited to continue working with Belfast Health & Social Care Trust & Donegal Pass Community Forum providing similar events throughout 2022.
If you'd like to set up something similar, just get in touch.

Had the best time at Decathlon Belfast last Saturday for their annual Play Days event. Hosting a Kickass Bootcamp workout for adults showcasing all the awesome strength training equipment on offer was my intention. In reality, so many mini Bootcamp Superstars turned up we shifted to playing head shoulders knees toes & cones & singing Lava Chicken from the Minecraft Movie instead!
At Fitness Belfast, we’re proud to support some of Northern Ireland’s most forward-thinking organisations in looking after their teams. One partnership that’s especially close to our hearts is with FinTrU, where we’ve been delivering workplace wellness since 2018.
